Finding the best driver shaft for distance starts with understanding what actually creates distance in the first place. Distance comes down to two numbers: clubhead speed and ball speed. In a perfect world you'd swing as fast as possible and strike the center of the face every time with the max legal smash factor of about 1.50.

While a shaft doesn’t add distance on its own, it does impact how efficiently you deliver the clubhead to the ball, helping you swing faster, find the center of the face more consistently, launch it better, and manage spin. My Personal Favorite Shafts for Distance

After testing golf shafts for more than 15 years, I have developed some clear favorites.

I have played and tested almost every major shaft brand and profile produced over the years, and I tend to gravitate toward certain shafts that consistently produce good results.

I am a huge fan of Graphite Design Tour AD shafts.

For me, the key is matching the shaft profile to the driver head.
