Ryan is the founder of Independent Golf Reviews, which he launched in 2010 to share honest, thorough takes on everything from clubs and accessories to apparel and courses. His philosophy is simple: every product gets tested on the course for multiple rounds before a word gets written.
Ryan grew up playing hand-me-down Wilson blades in Wisconsin, getting free lessons from the local PGA pro and spending summer Fridays on the course with friends. That early love deepened into a full passion, and he has since played more than 600 courses, spent three years coaching high school golf in Minnesota, and tested nearly every club on the market.
Now based in Tucson, Arizona, Ryan plays weekly outdoors and logs additional time on his Carl's Place simulator. He carries a 4.0 handicap, swings around 105 mph, and fits standard off-the-shelf specs, making his reviews especially relevant for the everyday golfer looking for real-world performance insight.
